On the 3rd October we went to Dunstable library to research about WW1. Jack, Jaden, Jed and I used microfiche to look at the local newspapers from around the time war declared. There wasn’t a lot in the newspapers about war but then again it was just the local news, there was a bit about weapons and regiments but nobody from our school was mentioned. Jaden used Dr Mitchell’s laptop to look at our school’s magazine; it was very useful because it had lots of information on the old boys. In the end it was very fun and informative.
Then on the 14th of October we asked the caretaker to put a secure ladder by the French rooms to get up to the old boys dormitories just to look around. Jed, Archie and I went up 3rd, it was very dusty and the floorboards were partly broken. Surprisingly, there were a lot of modern things up there that people such as: diaries, energy drinks, umbrellas! The school’s old boiler and water storage was still there but it had been cut off, the beds were gone and there was still a fire place there. The last room was very dark, (I’m glad I brought my torch!) derelict, shabby and broken. Apparently the LSA rooms were just like that as well. I liked it a lot and when we were coming down I got a dusty bottom!
